Like most successful family-owned businesses, General Meat Traders began its humble beginnings in a small butcher shop. The hours in this industry are long and hard. As a family we were wiling to do what it took to make it a success.

 

Located in Ascot Vale in 2001, the driving force Graham (Waxy) Pearce and his pillar of strength Anita, alongside brother-in-law Fred, Alex (Marbuck), sons Lennie, Luke and Michael led the way for GMT that we see today.

 

Marbuck is still with the business today working as a dedicated driver.

Graham and Fred combine had over 100 years of experience in the meat industry. This knowledge was passed onto the younger boys and so began a family business of generations of knowledge of the meat industry. 

 

The meat industry is full of 'characters' with Graham and Fred leading the way through hard work and lots of laughs at the same time, no matter how hard it got. There was always a funny tale of the past and it reminded everyone of a time so foreign to the young listeners.

 

To this day, Lennie (who is General Manager) with the addition of hard-working loyal staff have built the business to where it is now.

 

Over the past 20 years, many of our customers have stayed loyal to the business, which makes us happy knowing we have their trust in our products and services.

 

We have always based our business with the best product, right price, service and price being our priority.
